Radiology Advocacy Network Hosts Advocacy Training for Trainees
July 20, 2024
The Radiology Advocacy Network (RAN) recently hosted two webinars to educate and empower radiology trainees about current advocacy issues. These sessions provided valuable information and resources for trainees to effectively engage in advocacy efforts that affect their profession and patient care.
Introduction to Advocacy Webinar
The Pennsylvania Radiological Society invited the RAN to present an introductory webinar on advocacy on July 8 to residents. The session featured two speakers: Ted Burnes, the American College of Radiology Association® (ACRA®) Senior Director of Political Affairs, and Dillon Harp, American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Senior State Government Relations Specialist.
This webinar is part of the Resident Advocacy 101 series that the ACR Government Relations Department is hosting with state radiological chapters for their residents and trainees. The program features presentations explaining how to get involved in state and federal advocacy.
Although this webinar primarily targeted Pennsylvania Radiological Society trainees, it is accessible to anyone interested. The recording of this informative session can be viewed

Trainee Radvocacy Webinar
RAN hosted its quarterly Radvocacy webinar July 11. The session, titled "Trainee Radvocacy Webinar: Paving the Way for Radiology Advocacy: Empowering Trainees and Radiologists for the Future," was tailored for medical students, international medical graduates, residents and fellows.
The webinar provided invaluable insights into the realm of advocacy and its impact on radiology and featured a distinguished panel of speakers:
• Ashley Walton, JD – ACR Government Affairs Director
• Nilda Williams, MD – Body Imaging Radiologist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center
• Sally Midani, MD – Second-year diagnostic radiology resident at the University of New Mexico.
The session was hosted by Elizabeth Haberl, MD, the first female in the inaugural class of radiology residents of Diagnostic Radiology at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin and Caitlyn Tran, a rising second-year medical student at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
The webinar covered legislative issues pertinent to radiology trainees and offered first-hand advice on navigating an ACR membership, advocacy opportunities, and the American Medical Association (AMA). The recording of this engaging and educational session is available on the
Radiology Advocacy Network YouTube Channel.
